Recruitment Process
Interviewing for a job can be an intimidating experience. However, we do not want you to feel that way, so we have created a guide of our processes and some tips and tricks for interviewing with ABC Group
Your Resume
When reviewing resumes, there are several factors we consider depending on the position.
What makes a resume stand out to us?
- Detailed work experience (including dates!!)
- Updated list of relevant qualifications and licenses
- Draw parallels between the ‘about you’ section on the job advert and your skills to highlight your resume
Interviews
The first stage is an on-the-phone interview conducted by a People & Culture representative. This is a casual conversation aiming to discuss the applicant’s work history, skills and future goals. It is a great opportunity for you to demonstrate your communication skills, work achievements and tell us about what you are looking for in your next role. There are opportunities to ask questions about the role and company – if you forget to ask a question at this stage, don’t worry, you can ask the hiring manager directly in the next step.
ABC Group will aim to host the next interview face-to-face, unless the candidate is interstate or unable to meet in person. It gives candidates a chance to meet some of our team and see how awesome our new office is! Our company dress code is smart casual attire. If you are running late, please call/text us so we can advise the hiring manager. The duration of our job interviews ranges from anywhere between 30 minutes to an hour, do not be nervous, just be yourself!
ABC Group interviews are made up of behavioural-based questions aiming to understand how you think and what motivates you. We recommend before the interview to think of past experiences that showcase how you work and some of your challenges/wins. A framework that we suggest utilising to effectively answer behavioural-based questions is called the ‘STAR’ Method, which stands for:
- Describe the ‘Situation’
- Highlight the ‘Task’
- Share how you took ‘Action’
- Discuss the ‘Result’
Final Stages
In the final stages, ABC Group will require two professional references. When choosing references, please ensure you have worked for them in the last 5 years, and that they are able to accurately describe your role and responsibilities. A police and medical check will also be completed with the successful applicant.
All unsuccessful candidates will be contacted by People & Culture, who can provide feedback if requested. Sometimes you are the right fit but not the right fit for now, so if you are unsuccessful, please do not be deterred from applying again after 6 months. We keep your resume on file and may contact you if another role becomes available.
Welcome to the Team!
Once the hiring team has come to a decision, the People & Culture representative will call to offer the position. Once accepted, the onboarding process into ABC Group will begin – We cannot wait for you to start!
